Physical Medicine
What is physical medicine?
Physical medicine is the combination of massage/soft tissue work, exercise therapeutics, and joint mobilization/spinal adjustments. Many of us have either labour intensive jobs, desk jobs, high stress jobs, or a combination of all three! This means that our bodies take quite a beating throughout the day, especially if there is a lack of daily movement.
How does it benefit me?
Prolonged amounts of sitting throughout the day OR repetitive movements can cause muscle shortening/tightness and uneveness, causing ropey-ness and pain points we all feel in our muscles. This leads to uneven movement of the spine causing spinal misalignment. This all leads to chronic pain (e.g. low back pain, pain with movement, soreness in the muscles), restricted movements, and muscle weakness.
With a combination of soft tissue work, exercise therapeutics, and spinal adjustments your naturopathic physician can put your body back into alignment and ensure that it remains that way, preventing lifelong pain and encouraging proper body mechanics.
Is it covered?
Yes. All naturopathic visits are covered by most extended benefits plans - this includes any joint mobilizations/adjustments that are performed during the visit.
